Bachelor of Nursing Science

FON developed the bachelor program in response to the significant global need for qualified nurses. Our undergraduate program has both practical and theoretical elements to ensure students become fully prepared for their important care role. They gain practical experience in specialist simulation laboratories on campus before practicing in hospitals, clinics, in the community, and in people’s homes.

The Bachelor of Nursing Science Program focuses on training students to provide nursing care in both healthcare facilities and the community, domestically and internationally. A student-centered approach and student participation are a key part of the program.

Upon completion of the program students will have the following competencies:

  • Apply knowledge of nursing science and related sciences in nursing practice, as relevant to people, the environment, and health.
  • Provide quality nursing through health promotion, disease prevention, direct care, primary medical care, and rehabilitation for individuals, families, groups, and communities.
  • Use the nursing process and research results to solve health problems and promote the health of individuals to provide holistic continuous care.
  • Be well versed in the professional code of ethics, standards, nursing and midwifery professional laws, and other relevant laws in different countries and cultures.
  • Practice nursing with a concern for the rights, participation, and capability of an individual, family, group, or community to enhance their self-care and health seeking behaviors across their health continuum.
  • Teach, advice, and counsel individual clients, families, groups, or the community to ensure the best possible health promotion, disease prevention, direct care, and rehabilitation.
  • Express a good attitude towards one’s self, clients, colleagues, and the profession.
  • Work collaboratively within a health care team using good communication skills while initiating and maintaining good and appropriate relationships.
  • Embrace leadership development,  making decisions and managing change using creative and critical thinking.

BNS Curriculum

The BNS program provides a balance between providing students with a general education foundation and a broad-based core curriculum. General education classes are taken with students from other Faculties on the CMU main campus, while the core science classes are taken with students from the health science faculties.

Students will practice nursing skills in clinical laboratories, including a state of the art Laerdal simulation lab. Once students have mastered their skills in the clinical labs, they will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through clinical practice at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital and in the community.
