The Chiang Mai University Faculty of Nursing has adopted the Thailand Quality Award (TQA) criteria as the administrative framework for world-class excellence, also called EdPEx in the education sector. TQA/EdPEx is based on The Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, founded in the USA, which is a public-private partnership that provides organizational assessment tools and criteria. Each year the Faculty of Nursing participates in the TQA/EdPEx assessment to mark program progress towards institutional goals. The assessment is a combination of self-assessment and external evaluation.

Honorably, the Chiang Mai University Faculty of Nursing is the first nursing institute in Thailand receiving a pass assessment of the quality of education with a score of more than 200 (EdPEx200) to enter the 3rd EdPEx200 of 2015.  Additionally, the Chiang Mai University Faculty of Nursing has placed itself to move forward to the EdPEx300 or TQC award (score over 350) in the next four years.

These improvements have allowed the Chiang Mai University Faculty of Nursing to receive the Thailand Quality Class (TQC) 2019, which is a hallmark of a world-class management standard, awarded by the Office of Thailand Quality Award, Thailand Productivity Institute, Ministry of Industry.

The Chiang Mai University Faculty of Nursing is accredited by The Thailand Ministry of Education, Office of Higher Education Commission and the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council. Both institutions review and approve all curricula to ensure they adhere to the Thailand Qualification Framework for Higher Education. After the accreditation assessment visit by the committee of experts from Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council on March 15 – 16, 2021, the Bachelor of Nursing Science Program received a five-academic-year accreditation (2021 - 2025), bringing great pride to the Faculty.

The Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council assesses all advanced nursing trainings and short-training courses and determines the number of continuing nurse education units (CNEU) that can be earned.

The Chiang Mai University Faculty of Nursing is also pursuing accreditation with the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the accrediting body for nursing education for the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Participating in the ACEN accreditation process gives a program the opportunity to validate that it is committed to providing a quality nursing program and through the review of the program by peers – the extent to which the program meets expected standards of educational quality specific to nursing education. ACEN accreditation requires that a nursing program continually assesses and make improvements in the educational quality of the nursing program based on data.

This nursing education program is a Candidate for accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
