Chiang Mai University's Faculty of Nursing Professor Wins 2023 Outstanding Civil Service Award

The Faculty of Nursing at Chiang Mai University (NurseCMU) proudly announces that Dr. Hunsa Sethabouppha, a lecturer in the Psychiatric Nursing Academic Department, has been awarded the prestigious 2023 Outstanding Civil Officer Award (Golden Garuda). The ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Bhumibodin meeting room on the 6th floor of the Practical Chemistry Training Building, Department of Science Service.

The award recognizes Dr. Hunsa's exceptional dedication and service as a role model within the civil service sector. She will officially receive the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation award, including a certificate and merit badge.  

Dr. Hunsa is an accomplished Medical and Health Sciences, Nursing, and Midwifery researcher with over 350 citations for her impactful work. Her research areas cover various interests, including Drugs and Alcohol Nursing, Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing, and Digital Learning Innovations. This showcases her diverse expertise and commitment to advancing nursing education and practice

As a committed educator, Dr. Hunsa lectures in psychiatric nursing at the Faculty of Nursing at Chiang Mai University. Her academic journey began with a bachelor's degree in nursing and midwifery from Chiang Mai University, followed by advanced degrees from the University of Virginia, USA, including a Master's in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing and a Doctorate in Nursing.

Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Hunsa has been instrumental in shaping policies to improve mental health and psychiatric care in community settings, focusing on developing sustainable communities. Her contributions extend to her role as the alcohol nursing research director, where she has spearheaded numerous research innovations to address alcohol-related issues in Thailand. Her programs, including the award-winning "KlaiBann Samanjai - The Healing Heart Around Home Program" and the "TollTham Tamyiam" phone-based interventions, have been recognized nationally for their innovative approaches to alcohol dependence treatment.
