Master of Nursing Science International Program
Overview
The Master of Nursing Science (MNS) International Program is a professional degree that helps students gain in-depth knowledge and expertise in their chosen area of specialization. The program also provides skills that allow nurses to excel in the workplace and in their careers. Graduates from the program are able to respond to the changing needs in healthcare and society and are prepared for the advancements in health science and technology. The program has a strong focus on ethical professional principles and virtues, collaboration, and critical thinking. The MNS is thesis-based and focuses on the development of nursing knowledge in a particular concentration. International students can base their thesis research in their home country.
The MNS International Program offers the opportunity for advanced study in specific fields of nursing science. Students can choose an area of concentration from one of the followings; nursing administration, adult and gerontological nursing and maternal and child nursing. The program has been designed to foster expert nursing scholars skillful in knowledge development, knowledge management, and research utilization through dynamic classroom activities and guided clinical experiences in diverse learning environments.

Gain knowledge in nursing science, theories and concepts related to health and areas of specialization, and the ability to effectively integrate knowledge from nursing science and other related sciences in nursing practice.

Contribute to the body of health knowledge and apply research results in their area of specialization.

Develop systematic critical thinking, planning and problem solving, using skills in teamwork and cooperation with health care team and related persons.

Communicate and transfer knowledge and academic information using appropriate methods, and support others in developing their professional career

Curriculum
The curriculum of the MNS International Program is designed to provide students with a foundation in core leadership and research courses as well as core competencies in their field of specialization. Ample electives are available for students to pursue individual interests. Students gain hands-on research skills through conducting original thesis research. In addition, students are required to take part in the following ongoing academic activities to build their research skills:
Seminars
To promote a scholarly environment and to provide students the opportunity to develop public speaking and presentation skills, students are required to present a seminar on a topic related to their thesis once every semester for at least two semesters. Attendance at student seminars is mandatory.
Publications
The student thesis must be developed for publication and successfully publishing is a graduation requirement.
Full-Time Study
Duration: The MNS program of four regular semesters is typically completed in two years. The period of study shall not exceed four academic years.

Requirements
Admission Qualifications

Applicants must hold a bachelor degree in nursing or equivalent degree received from an institute that has been accredited by the Higher Education Commission, Ministry of Education, Thailand or the relevant authorized organization in the applicant’s country.

Applicants must hold a professional nursing license from the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council or relevant authorized organization the in applicant’s country.

Applicants must have at least one year of working experience as a professional nurse.

Applicants must have a minimum English examination score: TOEFL (paper based score of more than 500 or computer based score of more than 173 or an internet based score of more than 61); IELTS of band 5.5 or higher; or CMU e-TEGs score of 65 or higher.

Upon receipt of the application, the Faculty of Nursing will contact the applicants via e-mail to confirm receipt. Interview with the selection committee will be scheduled only after all required documents have been received. Interviews can be in-person or by Skype.

All accepted applicants who wish to enroll must report to Chiang Mai University to register their official student status before the start of term. The Faculty will notify you regarding the dates when you must report for graduate school
