International Academic Conference Addresses Global Aging and Dementia Challenges

The 2nd International Conference on Moving Forward in Unity took place on December 28-29, 2023, at Mae Fah Luang University in Chiang Rai Province. Hosted by the School of Nursing at Mae Fah Luang University and co-hosted by the Faculty of Nursing at Chiang Mai University (NurseCMU), this conference served as a focal point for exploring innovative solutions to confront the complex challenges of global aging and dementia in the digital era.

 

Distinguished experts from various fields delivered keynote addresses, while professionals showcased cutting-edge research presentations and engaged in dynamic debates. The event drew attendees from diverse backgrounds, including nurses, faculty members, researchers, and individuals passionate about the care of elderly individuals facing dementia and the integration of technology and innovative concepts to enhance their well-being.

 

The conference was structured around five central themes: healthy aging, changing communities, challenges in adopting emerging innovations and technologies in aged care, interdisciplinary approaches to living well with dementia, and palliative care. NurseCMU's faculty members and graduate students actively contributed to the conference's success by presenting their academic work and participating in discussions.

 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Decha Tamdee and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sirirat Panuthai was invited as a speaker to the conference, sharing their expertise. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Decha Tamdee also had the honor of representing the dean at the opening ceremony, underscoring the university's commitment to advancing knowledge and fostering collaboration.

 

The conference provided a unique platform for the establishment of a network among nurses and multidisciplinary teams dedicated to providing comprehensive care, education, and research in the context of an aging society. Its overarching goal was to explore innovative solutions, facilitate knowledge exchange, and contribute to building a future that prioritizes the well-being of our aging global population.
